About the Book
My India is a travel memoir written in the form of a living diary — in the present tense — capturing a spontaneous journey across India that gradually turned into a pilgrimage.
The book unfolds through two intense weeks: the Maha Kumbh Mela, bathing in the Ganges, encounters with Aghoris, nights in Varanasi, silence and devotion in Puttaparthi, landscapes connected with Krishna, and countless moments where the external journey mirrors an inner transformation.
This is not a guidebook and not a spiritual manual. It is a deeply personal narrative about India as a space of contrast, revelation, discomfort, beauty, chaos, and unexpected tenderness.
India here is not explained — it is experienced.
Why This Book
This book was born during a longer sabbatical journey across Asia. The decision to go to India was spontaneous, almost irrational — taken while staying in Bali — yet it became the turning point of the entire journey.
My India is about:
- Travel as initiation rather than tourism
- losing familiar reference points
- encounters that challenge comfort and identity
- the fragile line between exhaustion and revelation
- the moment when the road becomes a mirror
Many stories, reflections, and places that appear on IYTravel have their roots in this book. The website continues the journey — slower, wider, and more open-ended.
Languages & Editions
My India is published in three languages:
- English
- Italian
- Russian
Each version preserves the original rhythm and tone of the narrative, adapted carefully to sound natural in its language.
A Note from the Author
I did not plan to write this book.
It emerged from notes, fragments, fatigue, awe, fear, and moments of clarity scribbled on the road. Writing became a way to stay present, to not lose the subtle inner shifts happening alongside the journey.
If this book resonates with you, it may not be because of India itself, but because at some point we all stand at the threshold of the unknown — deciding whether to step forward.
